OK so I realised sometime during highschool that movies and songs translators in my country (Cyprus) must have found a job long before foreign languages institutes had been established here at the island. The reason is plain simple, really, that even using my petty highschool knowledge I cannot seem to relate the Original title with the one introduced by TV channels and Magazines.
Here are some of them that come to my mind right now:
1. SAW - se vlepw (i see you. not even i saw you, but i think it means a cutting or grinding tool that has nothing to do with eyes. Unless if it's being used to cut em off)
2. Final Destination - vlepw to thanato su (i see your death. again with seeing things)
3. Six Feet Under - grafeio kidiwn fisher (fisher funeral office. adopted from the series, but still not right)
4. Fast & Furius - maxites twn dromwn (fighters of the street. not only STUPID but also already existing in Street Fighters!)
5. Italian Job - oi mafiozoi (the mafia guys...)
6. Wild Wild West - mia treli treli peripeteia (a crazy crazy adventure...)
7. White Chicks - kafti amfiesi (hot disguise)
8. Yesman - pes nai! (say yes!)
9. Mortal Kombat - athanatoi polemistes (immortal warriors...)
10. Bedazzled - kane 7 efxes (make 7 wishes)
